View from the gallery

I am way excited to have work in a local gallery. They want more pieces but that is the scary part. They accepted the works from our member show but to take other pieces to be criticized for entry is making me a nervous wreck. Of course I like all my art but not sure if it is want they want. It has been too cold to work outside with the encaustic so no newer pieces to give. Question is should I just take old work or to take longer to create new?

Cannot figure out how to post multiple pictures without them lining up at the beginning of the post. Here are details of the key box.

Christmas is over. Everything taken care of or at least managed. Here is the commissioned piece I did for a friend. He provided the box and the inspiration. Glad I finished before chaos ensued.

Snow bottles

Here are the snobottles made by the "Enclave". A creative group that meets on Wed. nights. Love this group and the

Getting Ready for Christmas

Already wasted the morning with chatting and breakfast. My son and husband both seemed to need some words from me. I would prefer to be working on my commissioned piece. I did modify a bracelet into a necklace for a friend. Easy breezy, but hoped it would spur some creative mojo.

My Wednesday night group had a very nice time making snow bottles. Lots of different approaches with some of the same materials. We also tried to plan a Christmas Party. I didn't concentrate on the party planning so I only got the date. I'm sure we will tie down the details on Wednesday.

Worked on some pins to make garlands for Christmas cards will post later after they are finished. Wish I had some new thoughts but have picked up ideas from other posts and blogs. Sorry I cannot remember where or I would give credit.

This is a portion of the watch parts and pieces that I got at a local estate sale. Could not believe the price she had for these. Further north and it would hve been out of my reach. Loved sorting this incredible find.

return from trip

Returning from a trip is a surreal experience. You do things in reverse from just days before. Especially if you go thru customs. Standing in line to prove citizenship, being scrutinized by fellow line travelers. I really enjoy traveling but hate the process. Waiting and waiting is not bad but the worry that something may go wrong. Your luggage is lost or damaged. The thought that it has been handled by unseen hands and soiled by unknown substances.

My husband won a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on the Sea of Cortez. It was a great trip with wonderful weather. The kicker is the mingling and socializing with his fellow company men and women. I love lounging in a pool and watching the sunset but combine that with twelve or so individuals that you see only once every couple of years and a lot (A LOT) of alcholic beverages being consumed by everyone but yourself (dr's orders) and its not as yummy as you want it to be.

Falling into beginning

I really want to post as often as possible. Am not going to bore with reasons for not doing so but will say that as soon as it looked like I was not able to post for a while i gave up. Typical of me to give up for a while and then say "Why"? An then start to post again. Really wish I had a more clever blog name. Maybe I work on the ability to blog and then start up a really cool blog and gain actual followers because it is so great.
The above is an encaustic piece I did recently. I used the method that Patricia Baldwin Seggebruch describes in her book. My Wednesday Night Art Club had fun with this technique. We evidently really like setting things on fire.

Okay. Starting this blog without worrying about a following. Just want to create a space for my wandering thoughts to settle. I really like the rhythm of typing with words flowing under my fingers. I also want to practice taking photos of my work and posting someplace. This is an excercise in creative organization. Part of this process is realizing that all my photos are on the other computer. My laptop will be dedicated to the blog. Next post will have photos.
